Common problems

BlueStar range problems: causes and repair

A BlueStar burner that will not light and does not click points to no electrical power, one that clicks without lighting to the gas supply or clogged burner ports, and clicking that continues after the flame lights to wet burners or the outlet; a gas oven can take up to three minutes to ignite. Luxury Appliances Service checks the affected burner or oven and gives you the repair price before any work.

BlueStar range burner will not ignite

Whether a BlueStar burner clicks or stays silent helps show if the problem is electrical power or the gas and burner ports.

Possible causes: No electrical power to the unit, when there is no clicking; gas not on or clogged burner ports, when it clicks without lighting.

Check first: Note whether the burner clicks. Leave gas and internal ignition work to the technician.

When to call: The burner still will not ignite. We check the supply, spark module and burner ignition.

BlueStar range keeps clicking after the burner lights

A few clicks at first ignition are normal on a BlueStar range, but clicking that continues after the flame lights is not.

Possible causes: Wet burners; a plug not in a grounded outlet; incorrect outlet polarity.

Check first: Let burners dry after cleaning, and check that the range is plugged into a grounded outlet.

When to call: Clicking continues. We check ignition and the electrical supply.

BlueStar range burner flame floats above the ports

A flame floating above the ports on a BlueStar LP range can point to a low propane supply, and that burner should not be used.

What to do first: Stop using the affected burner and have the propane supply checked.

When to call: The flame problem continues. We assess the burner and gas system.

BlueStar range oven stays cold

A cold BlueStar gas oven may still be igniting, or it can have a power or ignition problem.

Possible causes: Ignition that can take up to three minutes; no electrical power to the appliance.

Check first: On RNB, RCS and Platinum ranges, allow up to three minutes for the gas oven to ignite.

When to call: A top burner lights but the oven does not, or the oven is on without heat. We check ignition, supply and heating controls.

Error codes

BlueStar dual-fuel range error codes and messages

BlueStar dual-fuel ranges show F codes for faults (F20 the controls, F40 the oven temperature sensor, F50 the meat probe, F60 the cooling fan and F80 high temperature) and text prompts for probe and temperature settings that you can clear at the controls. The meanings below follow BlueStar’s use-and-care information, checked in October 2026. Write down the exact code, stop using the cooking function that fails and leave internal wiring to the technician; an F code that returns needs service.

Call (786) 808-7771
What does F20 mean on a BlueStar dual-fuel range?
A control-board or wiring issue has been detected. Save F20 and arrange a control-system check; leave internal wiring to the technician.
What does F40 mean on a BlueStar dual-fuel range?
The oven temperature sensor has a fault. Stop using the failed oven function and arrange service so we can check temperature sensing and its connections.
What does F50 mean on a BlueStar dual-fuel range?
The meat probe has an issue. Stop using the probe function and save F50. If the warning persists, we check the probe and its connection to the oven controls.
What does F60 mean on a BlueStar dual-fuel range?
The cooling fan has a fault. Stop using the oven and arrange service for the cooling fan and its controls; do not open the housing to reach it.
What does F80 mean on a BlueStar dual-fuel range?
A high-temperature issue has been detected. Stop cooking and let the oven cool. Arrange a temperature-control check before using it again if the warning persists or returns.
Why does my BlueStar range say Remove Probe?
A meat probe has been detected in Broil or Clean mode. End the selected mode and let the oven cool before removing the probe. If the message remains with the probe removed, arrange a probe-sensing check.
Why does my BlueStar range say Probe Not Detected?
The meat probe is not detected. Insert the probe as directed for the oven. If the prompt remains with the probe connected, we check the probe and its connection.
Why does my BlueStar range limit the probe temperature to 90–200°F?
The meat-probe temperature setting is outside its accepted range. Choose a probe setting between 90°F and 200°F. If the prompt persists with a valid setting, arrange a probe-control check.
Why does my BlueStar range ask for a temperature between 100°F and 500°F?
The oven temperature setting is outside the accepted range. Change it to a setting between 100°F and 500°F. If an accepted setting still triggers the prompt, arrange a control-system check.

Your BlueStar range repair: visit, diagnostic, parts, warranty

Luxury Appliances Service repairs BlueStar ranges in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach counties, seven days a week, with a $145 diagnostic per appliance, credited toward the repair; the repair price before any work, at market prices with no markup because of the home or the address; original parts directly from the manufacturer, ordered and installed on a return visit if a part is not on hand; and a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. That includes Platinum all-gas, dual-fuel and induction ranges and Nova RNB and Culinary Series ranges. We speak Spanish.

Repair or replace

Is your BlueStar range worth repairing?

Repair usually makes sense when the rest of the range is sound, because an ignition, heating or control fault can be repaired on its own. A common rule of thumb is that if a repair costs more than half the price of a new range, replacing it may make more sense. We find which of them has failed and quote the repair before any work.

Call (786) 808-7771

Can a BlueStar burner that will not light be repaired?

Yes. The spark module and ignition wires are separate range components, and our BlueStar work includes spark-module replacement. We assess the burner and electrical supply before quoting the work.

How much is a BlueStar range diagnostic?

The diagnostic is $145 per range, credited toward the repair. You pay it on its own only if you decide not to repair. We give the repair price before any work.

FAQ

BlueStar range repair questions

A brief PowR Oven ignition delay and burner cycling can be normal. Persistent ignition failure, fan noise or loss of heat needs a check of the affected range function.

Call (786) 808-7771
Is it normal for a BlueStar PowR Oven to take a minute to light?
Yes. The Platinum PowR Oven power burner can take up to one minute to ignite while its indicator is on. If it never lights or the oven stays cold, arrange an ignition and heating check.
Why does my BlueStar oven burner cycle on and off?
To hold the set air temperature: the Platinum PowR Oven burner cycles for even heat. Repeated loss of heat or failure to reach temperature needs an oven-heating check.
Why is my BlueStar range convection fan noisy?
Loose fan-cover mounting screws can cause convection-fan noise in a BlueStar range. Let the oven cool and leave internal checks to the technician. We inspect the fan cover and fan before quoting a repair.
Can the broiler and oven burner on a BlueStar range run at the same time?
No. The broiler and oven burner do not operate at the same time. If the selected cooking function fails to heat, we check its heating and controls.
Why is my new BlueStar range smoking?
Factory residue can cause odors or smoke if the first-use oven burn-off was skipped; BlueStar calls for that burn-off on a new oven, so follow the instructions for your range. Smoke that continues after that needs assessment.
How do I clean BlueStar range grates?
Let the burners cool, wash the removable grates in hot soapy water, rinse and dry thoroughly to prevent rust. Keep oven cleaner off the gasket, igniter and infrared ceramic broiler. Arrange service if ignition remains unreliable after the burners dry.
