Yelp
Our built-in Sub-Zero refrigerator started warming up just before we had family staying with us. The technician treated the unit carefully, isolated the issue, and laid out the options clearly. The repair was handled without damaging the surrounding cabinetry, which was a major concern. Everything is holding temperature again.

Sub-Zero repair for built-ins,columns and undercounter units
We repair Sub-Zero Classic (CL) refrigeration in 30-, 36-, 42- and 48-inch widths, panel-ready Designer (DET, DEC) units from 18 to 36 inches and stainless PRO models, including PRO3650, PRO4850 and the earlier 648PRO, along with wine storage, freezer drawers and ice makers.
A warm refrigerator beside a cold freezer is a familiar Sub-Zero service request: the two compartments use separate cooling systems. We repair Classic, Designer and PRO refrigerators, including French-door and panel-ready column formats.
Symptoms: Warm or too cold, water under the unit, frost on the back wall, erratic temperatures on the display, noise.
Ice production can stop in a Sub-Zero freezer or in a separate undercounter machine. Our ice maker repairs include both formats and outdoor-rated UC-15I(P)O units, with service for slow production, overfilled bins and leaks.
Symptoms: No ice or slow ice, an ice block in the bin, water leaking at the ice maker, a bin that overflows.
Built-in freezer compartments, separate columns and 24- or 30-inch panel-ready drawers are part of our Sub-Zero work. Call us for a freezer that warms up, frost that keeps returning or a drawer that no longer closes.
Symptoms: Not freezing, ice or frost build-up, ice on the slides or walls, a drawer that won’t close or soft-close.
Keep red and white wines at their chosen settings with repair for Classic and Designer wine storage, including undercounter models. We work on warm zones, temperature alerts and moisture inside the cabinet.
Symptoms: Running warm, a temperature alert chime, moisture or condensation inside.
We repair Sub-Zero refrigeration fitted into custom cabinetry, including Classic (CL) and Designer (DET, DEC) units, as well as separate wine storage, ice makers and freezer drawers.

Common problems
Common Sub-Zero problemswe fix
A warm Sub-Zero refrigerator, recurring freezer frost or stopped ice production can interrupt the whole kitchen. We repair these faults in built-in refrigeration, wine storage and ice makers. We check the affected compartment and quote the repair before work.
Sub-Zero refrigerator not cooling
A warm Sub-Zero refrigerator next to a cold freezer is a refrigerator-side fault, because Sub-Zero uses dual refrigeration: a separate sealed system for each compartment. Common causes are a dirty condenser, a fan, a temperature sensor or thermostat, the door gasket or the sealed system. Check the setpoint (Sub-Zero recommends 38°F) and clean the condenser if it has not been cleaned in 6 to 12 months.
Sub-Zero refrigerator too cold or erratic temperatures
If your Sub-Zero freezes food, clean the condenser if it has not been cleaned in six months. Fluctuating display temperatures can involve blocked airflow, an open door, sensors, controls or the sealed cooling system.
Frost on the back wall can involve the door gasket, incoming air, poor circulation, a blocked drain or the sealed cooling system; refrigerant work stays with the technician.
A noisy Sub-Zero can have a fan or motor problem, ice around the freezer fan or an obstruction from overfilling. If freezer noise comes with a red glow inside, stop using the unit and switch off its circuit breaker.
A warm Sub-Zero freezer can have a fan, sensor, thermostat, door-seal or sealed-system fault. A newly started freezer, or one with a changed setting, needs at least 24 hours to reach temperature. For a freezer that has lost cooling during normal use, arrange repair; refrigerant work is for the technician.
When Sub-Zero freezer frost returns, check the drawer or door gasket for tears and binding. An open door, a frozen drain tube, a failed defrost heater or an ice maker filling problem can also cause frost. We repair the affected drain, seal or defrost system after checking the fault.
For a Sub-Zero 600 Series in-freezer ice maker, check that the freezer is at or below 5°F; 0°F is recommended. A jammed cube, low water pressure, a frozen fill tube or a warm freezer can interrupt in-freezer ice making. We repair both in-freezer and separate undercounter ice makers; book service if production stays low or stops.
In a Sub-Zero freezer, an ice block or water leaking at the ice maker can involve a jammed cube, a faulty water valve or an incorrect fill setting. On freezer models with an ice dispenser, unused ice can fuse over several days during defrost cycles. We check recurring leaks and ice buildup and repair the affected ice maker.
For warm Sub-Zero wine storage, clean the condenser if it has not been cleaned in three months. Fan, temperature-control and sealed-system faults can also affect cooling. A Designer Undercounter unit chimes after an extended temperature deviation of 10°F above or 5°F below its setting. Arrange service for the affected wine zone.
First look for an item blocking the Sub-Zero drawer or slides. A broken slide or an ice maker arm stuck down can keep the upper freezer basket from sliding back. If the drawer closes by hand but its soft-close does not work, check whether it is empty or overloaded. Book drawer repair if closing trouble continues.
Sub-Zero codes depend on the series: on 600, 648PRO and 700 Series units they appear as EC numbers with a Service message, while Classic (BI, CL), PRO3650/PRO4850 and Designer wine units show three-part codes such as 40 1 40. The meaning of each code below follows Sub-Zero’s information for that series; write down the full code for the service call, and do not open electrical panels or work on the sealed cooling system.
What does EC40 with Service flashing mean on a Sub-Zero 600, 648PRO or 700 Series?
On Sub-Zero 600, 648PRO and 700 Series units, EC40 with Service flashing means excessive freezer compressor run time. An open door or a cooling-system, fan or temperature-sensor fault can be involved. Arrange service for continuing cooling trouble.
What does 40 1 40 mean on a Sub-Zero Classic (BI)?
On Classic (BI) refrigeration, 40 1 40 means excessive refrigerator run time. Book service for the refrigerator compartment if the message or cooling problem continues.
What does 20 2 00 mean on a Sub-Zero Classic (BI) freezer?
On a Sub-Zero Classic (BI) freezer, 20 2 00 indicates an open defrost heater fault. Arrange freezer service and include this code.
What does 95 3 00 mean on a Sub-Zero PRO3650 or PRO4850?
On PRO3650 and PRO4850 units, 95 3 00 means the zone 3 door has been open for at least 20 minutes. Check the door; arrange service if it will not close or seal.
What does 0 FF or OFF mean on a Sub-Zero display?
0 FF or OFF means your Sub-Zero is switched off. Check the operating controls for your model; call for service if the unit will not switch back on.
What does 40 8 01 mean on a Sub-Zero Classic (CL) ice maker?
On Classic (CL) units, 40 8 01 indicates excessive ice maker fill. Book ice maker service and include the full message.
What does EC30 with Service flashing mean on a Sub-Zero 600/700 Series?
On Sub-Zero 600/700 Series units, EC30 with Service flashing means the ice maker has cycled off after excessive water-valve solenoid activation. Arrange ice maker service.
What does Service Ice flashing mean on a Sub-Zero ice maker?
On Sub-Zero 600 Series units, Service Ice flashes when the water valve has been energized for more than 15 seconds and the ice maker has turned off. Call to arrange ice maker repair.
What do EC 10 and EC 12 mean on Sub-Zero Classic wine storage (BW-30)?
For Classic wine storage BW-30, EC 10 is the upper cabinet warm alarm and EC 12 is the lower cabinet warm alarm. Arrange service for the affected wine compartment.
What does 40 1 09 mean on Sub-Zero Designer Wine (IW)?
On Designer Wine (IW), 40 1 09 reports zone 1 too warm or too cold, with a large temperature difference. Book wine storage service for that zone.
Why clients choose us
Your Sub-Zero repair:visit, diagnostic, parts, warranty
Luxury Appliances Service repairs Sub-Zero refrigeration in Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach homes with a $145 diagnostic per appliance, credited toward the repair; the repair price before any work, at market prices with no markup because of the home or the address; original parts directly from the manufacturer, ordered and installed on a return visit if a part is not on hand; and a 90-day warranty on parts and labor. We work seven days a week, and we speak Spanish.
Repair usually makes sense when the rest of the Sub-Zero is sound: replacing a built-in also means installation and often cabinetry work. A common rule of thumb: if a repair costs more than half the price of a new appliance, replacement may make more sense; for a built-in, compare our repair price with the full installed cost of the new unit.
Sub-Zero says it tests its refrigerators to handle at least 20 years of everyday use. That is the manufacturer’s test standard, not a guaranteed lifespan; the condition of your unit and the failed part decide whether repair makes sense.
What does a Sub-Zero repair visit cost?
With Luxury Appliances Service, a Sub-Zero visit starts with a $145 diagnostic per appliance, credited toward the repair. The repair price depends on the compartment and the failed part, from a door gasket or fan to sealed-system work, and you get it before any work starts.
Yes. Your Sub-Zero repair uses original parts directly from the manufacturer. If a part is not on hand, we order it and come back to install it.
Do you also repair the Wolf and Cove appliances in my kitchen?
Yes. Sub-Zero, Wolf and Cove belong to one family: refrigeration, cooking and dishwashing. We also repair Wolf ranges, ovens and cooktops and Cove dishwashers. The diagnostic is per appliance.
Do Sub-Zero refrigerators need to be serviced?
Yes, mainly the condenser: Sub-Zero calls for cleaning it every 6 to 12 months, and a “Vacuum Condenser” message means the unit is running inefficiently or too warm. Sub-Zero also recommends cleaning and sanitizing the ice-maker water-system surfaces every six months. If temperatures still drift after cleaning, book Sub-Zero repair; our recent Sub-Zero jobs include condenser service.
