Reviews

Reviews from Viking owners

A Viking oven owner describes slow preheating, uneven cooking and a clear repair estimate.

  • Thumbtack

Our Viking oven needed much longer than usual to preheat and still cooked unevenly. The technician was punctual, methodical, and patient with my questions. The estimate was clear and the repair felt like a fair value.

Common problems

Common Viking problems we fix

Common Viking problems are a refrigerator that runs too long, an oven that will not operate, range igniters that keep sparking, dishwasher wash arms that do not turn, a grill that will not ignite by itself and a wine cooler that loses cooling. Several have a first check: the door gasket, the MANUAL/TIMED switch and the breaker, wet or dirty igniters, and dishes blocking the wash arms; SureSpark re-igniting a burner whose flame went out is normal. We check the affected appliance and quote the repair.

Viking refrigerator runs for too long

A dirty, worn, damaged or poorly seated Viking door gasket can make the refrigerator run for too long. Clean the seal as instructed; if it is damaged or will not seat, arrange refrigerator service.

Viking oven will not operate

If the lights work on a Viking oven fitted with a MANUAL/TIMED switch, check that it is on MANUAL. With no lights, check the breaker. If the oven still will not operate, book service for its power or control problem.

Viking oven will not operate
Viking range igniters keep sparking

On Viking 5 Series VDR ranges, wet or dirty igniters, an ungrounded supply or reversed electrical polarity can cause continuous sparking. SureSpark normally re-ignites a burner when its flame goes out. For sparking that continues during normal cooking, arrange range repair; gas and electrical repairs stay with the technician.

Viking range keeps sparking after the flame lights

Viking dishwasher wash arms do not turn

First check that both Viking wash arms turn freely and dishes, lids or handles do not obstruct them. Keep the filter system clean under the model instructions. If washing remains poor, arrange dishwasher service for the circulation problem.

Viking grill does not ignite by itself

Viking 5 Series VQGI/VQGF grills use a glowing electric igniter. If a burner can be lit by a match but will not light on its own, the igniter may need service. Book grill repair and leave gas connections and ignition repairs to the technician.

Viking wine cooler loses cooling

On a Viking FWUI5242G undercounter wine cooler, excess frost on the evaporator can reduce cooling. Viking warns that switching it off can release more meltwater than the drain can handle. Arrange wine-cooler service for cooling loss and any display message.

Error codes

Viking error codes and service messages

Viking codes depend on the appliance: 5 Series refrigeration shows oPn and Shr for temperature-sensor alarms and HIGH TEMP when a compartment has stayed too warm for two hours, FDWU and VDWU dishwashers show E:01 for excess water intake or a leak and E:02 for an interrupted water supply, the 5 Series clear ice machine flashes a blue Check Water light, and a VEIL wine cooler shows Call Service with a malfunction code. The meanings below follow Viking’s information for each model, checked in October 2026. Write down the full code for the service call; do not open electrical panels or attempt gas or internal wiring repairs.

Call (786) 808-7771
What do oPn and Shr mean on a Viking refrigerator?
oPn and Shr are temperature-sensor alarms on Viking 5 Series all-refrigerator and all-freezer units. Arrange refrigeration service and include the exact message.
What does HIGH TEMP mean on Viking refrigeration?
HIGH TEMP on Viking 5 Series refrigeration means the refrigerator or freezer has stayed too warm for two hours. Arrange cooling service if the compartment remains warm.
What does E:02 mean on a Viking dishwasher?
E:02 on Viking FDWU and VDWU dishwashers means the water supply is interrupted or the inlet valve is off. The program pauses until water returns. Check the supply; book service if the dishwasher still will not fill.
What does E:01 mean on a Viking dishwasher?
E:01 on Viking FDWU and VDWU dishwashers means excess water intake or a leak. If the message does not clear, arrange dishwasher repair for the continuing fault.
What does a blue Check Water light mean on a Viking ice machine?
A flashing blue Check Water light on Viking 5 Series clear ice machines calls for a water-supply check. The control checks again every 20 minutes and restarts automatically. If water is available but ice production stays stopped, arrange ice-machine service.
What does Call Service mean on a Viking wine cooler?
Call Service with a malfunction code on a Viking VEIL FDWCIC7240 wine cooler means it needs service attention. Book wine-cooler repair and include the complete code.

Repair or replace

Is your Viking worth repairing?

Repair usually makes sense when the rest of the Viking is sound: replacing a range or built-in appliance also means installation, and a built-in may need cabinetry work. A common rule of thumb: if a repair costs more than half the price of a new appliance, replacement may make more sense; for a built-in, compare our repair price with the full installed cost of the new unit.

Call (786) 808-7771

Can a Viking built-in refrigerator be repaired instead of replaced?

Yes. A door, defrost or heating fault is repaired on its own: our Viking jobs include a refrigerator door gasket, defrost heaters and double-oven heating controls. Compare the repair price with the full installed cost of a replacement.

What does a Viking repair visit cost?

With Luxury Appliances Service, a Viking visit starts with a $145 diagnostic per appliance, credited toward the repair. The repair price depends on the appliance and the failed part, from a door gasket or igniter to a defrost heater or oven heating control, and you get it before any work starts.

FAQ

Viking repair questions

Call (786) 808-7771
Do you use original Viking parts?
Yes. Your Viking repair uses original parts directly from the manufacturer. If a part is not on hand, we order it and come back to install it.
Why are the knob rings flashing red on my Viking range?
On 7 Series ranges, the griddle and oven knob rings flash red a set number of times to indicate an error. Include the flash count when booking; we check the affected heating or control function.
What does a flashing blue light mean on a Viking induction cooktop?
No pan is detected. On Viking 5 Series VICU induction cooktops, flashing blue, or flashing white in BOOST, means the zone does not detect a pan; a steady blue light is normal during cooking, and after switch-off the indicator alternates blue and white until the surface cools. Arrange cooktop service if a suitable pan still will not heat.
