GE Café CustomFit dishwashers include 39- and 44-dBA full-tub designs with Ultra Wash Top Rack and Dual Convection Ultra Dry. Earlier full-tub machines use Ultra Wash with Sanitize. Single- and double-drawer dishwashers need a separate check of the affected drawer when washing or draining fails.

Common problems

Possible causes: The door was left open during the wash.
Check first: Close the door fully without forcing the latch.
When to call: It will not resume. We check the door sensing and controls.
A dry tub in a CustomFit full-tub dishwasher can have a simple float cause or a water-feed problem.
Possible causes: A stuck flood float; water pressure outside the normal 20–120 psi range.
When to call: The tub stays dry. We inspect the float, inlet and water feed; leave internal parts and plumbing adjustments to the technician.
Water left in a Café drawer or tub points to the drain path, and the first checks are ones you can make.
Possible causes: On double-drawer machines, bent or kinked drain hoses or blocked filters; on full-tub machines draining through a disposer, a disposer or sink drain that is not clear.
Check first: Clean the accessible filter plate and drain filter under the care instructions. On full-tub machines draining through a disposer, run the disposer clear and check that the sink drains freely.
When to call: Water remains. We check the drain path.
Dishes can still be damp when the Clean light appears on a CustomFit full-tub dishwasher: the drying fan keeps running for another 90 minutes.
What to do first: Keep the door closed for 90 minutes after the Clean light appears so the fan can run.
When to call: Dishes remain unusually wet after drying. We check the drying fan, heating and controls.
Suds in a Café dishwasher can have a detergent cause you can correct, but persistent suds need service.
Possible causes: The wrong detergent.
Check first: Use only automatic dishwasher detergent.
When to call: Suds persist or water keeps escaping with the correct detergent. Stop the cycle and arrange service; our technician checks the dishwasher.
Food left on dishes in a CustomFit full-tub dishwasher can start with clogged filters you can clean yourself.
Possible causes: A clogged Ultra-Fine or Fine filter; a wash-circulation problem.
Check first: Clean both filters under the care instructions.
When to call: Cleaning the filters does not restore washing. We check circulation and controls; our Café wash-circulation work includes a dishwasher that left dishes dirty.

A common rule of thumb is that if a repair costs more than half the price of a new dishwasher, replacing it may make more sense, and a double-drawer replacement also has to keep the separate drawers you use. No. The rails attach to the dishwasher itself, so a third rack cannot be added to a design built without it. We identify the fitted rack and wash system when checking repair parts.
