Common problems
Common Viking grill problems include a burner that will not light, low heat and yellow flames or uneven heat. On 5 Series grills, the igniter glows rather than sparks while a control knob is pushed in, foil lining or a short preheat can cause low heat, and an out-of-level grill burns unevenly. Luxury Appliances Service checks ignition, burners and the gas supply and gives you the repair price before any work; gas adjustments stay with the technician.

Check first: With a control knob pushed in, check that the igniter glows. Stop repeated lighting attempts.
When to call: The igniter does not glow or the burner will not light by itself. We service the ignition.
Low heat on a Viking grill can come from foil lining or short preheating, both easy to correct.
Possible causes: Aluminum foil lining restricting airflow; insufficient preheating; an undersized, kinked or damaged gas supply line.
Check first: With the grill off and cold, remove foil lining. Preheat the main burners 10–15 minutes with the hood closed, or 3 minutes for ProSear.
When to call: Low heat persists. We inspect the gas supply line for sizing, kinks or damage.
Yellow flames or uneven heat on a Viking grill can point to burner air or grill level, though some orange tips are normal.
Possible causes: Insufficient air at the main burners; an out-of-level grill causing erratic combustion; dusty or greasy air, which can cause orange flame tips.
When to call: Flames stay yellow or heat stays uneven. We check burner airflow, air shutters and installation level; leave gas adjustments to the technician.
