Common problems
Frost around the vents in a Dacor freezer column can come from food blocking them, a warm column from the setting, the power cord or missing clearance, and an ice maker that stops from a switched-off maker or an unconnected water supply. Each column has its own compressor and evaporator, so a warm freezer needs its own check even when the refrigerator beside it is cold. Frost around the vents in a DRZ freezer column can start with food placement, which you can fix yourself.
Check first: Move food clear of the vents without chipping at ice.
When to call: Frost returns or food starts thawing. We check airflow, defrost operation and cooling.
A warm Dacor freezer column can have a setting, power or placement cause, or a fault in its cooling system.
Possible causes: A temperature control not set correctly; a power cord not plugged in properly; heat or sunlight exposure; less than 5 cm clearance at the rear and sides.
Check first: Check the temperature setting and, if accessible without moving the column, the power connection.
When to call: The column stays warm. We check its ventilation and dedicated cooling system.
A Dacor freezer ice maker that has stopped can have a setting, supply or start-up cause you can check first.
Possible causes: The ice maker switched off; the water supply not connected; a newly installed ice maker.
Check first: Check that the ice maker is on and its water supply is connected. A newly installed DRZ column ice maker needs about 12 hours before producing ice.
When to call: The bucket stays empty. We inspect water fill and the ice-making controls.
Ice that will not dispense from a Dacor freezer can have a simple jam or bucket-fit cause.
Possible causes: Ice jammed after about three weeks without dispenser use; a bucket not properly inserted.
Check first: Check that the bucket is properly inserted. Do not force the mechanism.
When to call: Ice still will not dispense. We inspect the bucket and dispenser.
