Common problems

Dacor cooktop problems: causes and repair

A Dacor induction cooktop that does not detect a pan or heats slowly may need a correctly sized magnetic pan centered on the zone, a slow display is normal for the first minute, and a gas burner that keeps clicking can have its knob left in Lite; large or yellow flames point to the wrong burner orifice for your gas. Luxury Appliances Service checks the ignition, zone or controls that still fail and gives you the repair price before any work.

Dacor induction cooktop does not detect a pan

A Dacor LCD induction cooktop that does not detect a pan can have a cookware or placement issue rather than a fault.

Possible causes: Inappropriate cookware; cookware not placed on the cooking zone.

Check first: Center a correctly sized pan with a magnetic base on the zone.

When to call: Detection still fails. We check the zone and its controls.

Dacor induction cooktop heats slowly

Slow heating or no rolling boil on a Dacor LCD induction surface can start with the cookware you are using.

Possible causes: Incorrect cookware: pans that are not ferromagnetic, not correctly sized or not centered on the zone.

Check first: Use a correctly sized magnetic-base pan centered on the zone.

When to call: Heating stays weak. We check the affected zone, sensors and controls.

Dacor induction cooktop display is slow to start

A Dacor LCD induction cooktop display that is slow to start is normal for about the first minute while it boots.

Check first: Allow that startup time.

When to call: The display remains blank or will not respond after startup. We check power and the touch-control system.

Dacor gas cooktop keeps clicking

A Dacor gas burner that keeps clicking can simply have its knob left in Lite.

Check first: Move the knob to the cooking setting after ignition.

When to call: Clicking persists or the burner will not light. We check the ignition and burner controls.

Dacor cooktop flames are large or yellow

Very large or yellow flames on a Dacor gas cooktop point to a burner orifice that does not match your gas type.

Possible causes: A wrong burner orifice for the fuel, LP versus natural gas.

What to do first: Stop using the affected burner.

When to call: You see large or yellow flames. We check the fuel setup and orifice; gas conversion and internal repairs stay with the technician.

Error codes

Dacor induction cooktop codes and messages

On the DTI36M977BB LCD induction cooktop, C codes point to temperature sensors, F codes to communication between the control boards, memory and touch controls, UP to the incoming voltage and A2 to the cooling fan; these are induction messages, separate from gas-burner ignition problems. The meanings below follow Dacor’s use-and-care information, checked in October 2026. Stop cooking when a code returns, let the cooktop cool and leave internal and electrical checks to the technician.

Repair or replace

Is your Dacor cooktop worth repairing?

Repair usually makes sense when the rest of the cooktop is sound: a burner-ignition, sensor or control fault can be repaired while keeping the Dacor surface, and Dacor offers genuine parts and help locating components for legacy appliances. A common rule of thumb is that if a repair costs more than half the price of a new cooktop, replacing it may make more sense; a replacement also has to fit the counter opening and the existing gas or electrical connection.

Call (786) 808-7771

Can just one Dacor burner or induction zone be repaired?

Yes. We assess the failed burner or zone and the component it needs before recommending replacement of the cooktop; our Dacor cooktop work includes burner-control and ignition repair.

How much is a Dacor cooktop diagnostic?

The diagnostic is $145 per appliance, credited toward the repair. You pay it on its own only if you decide not to repair. We give the repair price before any work.

FAQ

Dacor cooktop repair questions

Call (786) 808-7771
Is fan noise after I turn off my Dacor induction cooktop normal?
Yes. Fan hissing or buzzing can continue after an LCD induction cooktop is switched off. Whistling with both rear zones in use can come from vibration. Noise with lost heat or a recurring fault message needs service.
Why does my Dacor induction glass change color when hot?
Temporary discoloration can appear while the glass is hot and disappear as it cools. If the change remains when cool or heating has also failed, we assess the surface and the affected zone.
Why won’t my Dacor gas burner light?
Dirty electrodes or a burner cap or base that is out of place can stop it lighting. Once the cooktop is off and cool, clean the accessible electrodes and check that the burner cap and base are correctly seated. If ignition still fails, we check the ignition and burner-control fault.
How can I tell whether my Dacor induction cooking zone is active?
VirtualFlame LED lights show when a cooking zone is in use on the LCD induction format. If the lights or display show activity but a suitable pan stays cold, we check the zone and its controls.
